The Threadbare Skivvies are a dynamic duo from Atlanta, GA comprised of Kate Wright and Chris Adams –they like to describe themselves, and their music, as vagabond nature folk. It’s a bluegrassy, bohemian banjo bangin’, stompin’ & clappin’ kind of business – powerhouse harmonies, funky rhythms, and soulfully crafted lyrics.
Kate began performing in suburban coffee shops as a solo singer song-writer at 15. She attributes her development as a lyricist to nature, good literature, & the worries and wonders of love.
Chris started out drumming for an Atlanta alternative band, Chainestereo, in the early 2000’s. He now plays accordion, bass, and various percussion with both Kate, and another Atlanta band called Jesse and the Great Perhaps.
Kate & Chris met one blustery winter evening about 6 years ago at a cabin soiree in the North Georgia woods & the two have been inseparable since. But it wasn’t until the fall of 2012 that they began performing together officially.
Their first EP and the upcoming full-length album are intended to provide the same nostalgic joy of the perfect mountain driving mix tape – exuberant catchy choruses & plenty of room for ruminations and revelry.
